Its name was coined by a Cacique who lived in a nearby indigenous settlement who would visit the area during the summer time to collect salt, seafood and fish. The original name was “Peazi”, which comes from an indigenous expression meaning “Pedasito de Cielo”, or “Little Piece of Heaven”, because of the impact the land had on the him as he arrived from the jungle and was able to go down to the sea.
The name of “Peazi” with the passing of time became “Pedasi”.
